Ang vs. Ang mga

Ang is like the sound of “young” without the ”y”.

In English language, “ang” is the “the,a, or is”. Sometimes there is no English equivalent. Ang is in singular form.

Examples:
Ang bulak (buwak)– The flower.
  Take note that in pronunciation, we sometimes change “L” to “w”. Both are acceptable. Use whichever you like.
     Bulak – buwak  - flower
     Bulan – buwan – moon; month
Ang babaye – The lady or woman.
Ang babaye kay gwapa.
The lady is pretty/ beautiful.

Formula:
Ang __(subject)___ kay __(adjective)__.
Kay – connecting word
-         English equivalents are “is, are, since

Let us use the formula above.
Ang bulan kay hayag.
The moon is bright.
Ang tubig kay hugaw.
The water is dirty


“Ang mga” is in the plural form. The English equivalents are “these, are”

Formula:
Ang mga __(subject)__ kay __(adjective___.
a.     Ang mga salida kay nindot.
            The movies are good.
b.     Ang mga sinena kay bag-ong laba.
The clothes are newly washed.
c.      Ang mga Bisaya kay romantiko.
The Visayan people are romantic.
